What are the engine options?
Standard across the board for the RAM 2500 is a 6.4-liter V8 engine that makes 410 horsepower and 429 lb-ft of torque. The engine comes with a cylinder deactivation feature that saves you a bit of fuel during light duty. It connects to an eight-speed automatic transmission with the option of either rear-wheel or four-wheel drive, except for the Power Wagon, where four-wheel-drive is standard. Optional is the Cummins 6.7-liter six-cylinder turbodiesel, which pumps out 370 horsepower and an astounding 850 lb-ft of torque. Towing and hauling are an undeniable strength for the RAM 2500 as it can pull up to 19,370 pounds with a payload capacity of 4,520 pounds.
What are the features and options?
The RAM 2500s extensive list of features starts with the base Tradesman with an 8-foot bed. Features include a 40/20/40-split-bench seat, black vinyl flooring, four-speakers, and a Uconnect system with a 5-inch touchscreen and Bluetooth. Higher up the trim ladder, things start to become a little more luxurious. Higher trims are available with a spacious Crew Cab or an even bigger Mega Cab that has more legroom and reclining seats. You also get a load-leveling rear air suspension that provides a smooth ride and a wide range of towing and safety equipment such as a 360-degree camera system, cargo-view camera, blind-spot monitoring, and forward-collision mitigation. Luxury features such as full leather interiors, accents of real metal and open-pore wood, and a Harman Kardon audio system are also available on higher trims. Once you get to the Power Wagon, you get a Uconnect system with either an 8.4-inch 12-inch touchscreen.
What are some of the safety features?
Your safety means a lot of RAM, which is why there are several safety systems available on every trim of the 2500. Available is a Forward Collision Warning System with Active Braking that helps warn the driver when a collision is imminent. If the driver fails to act, the brakes will automatically be applied, which can bring the RAM to a complete stop, even when the trailer is attached. Also available is an Adaptive Cruise Control System, which maintains a set distance from vehicles in the lane ahead. When slower traffic is detected, the RAM 2500 automatically adjusts its speed down to zero even if the trailer is attached. Finally, with dual wide-band radar sensors in the taillamps, the available Blind-Spot Monitoring System with Rear Cross Path Detection scans the blind spot zones both beside and behind the RAM to help you make a safer lane change. It also automatically accounts for the length of the trailer.
